Heylo Putty Beach

It was ANZAC day and for a long time the kids (Tu, Vedhu, Trisha and Riya) wanted a beach outing where they could swim in the sea.  After some research Bouddi National Park was where we were headed. Till the last minute AJ and I were arguing whether it was Putty Beach or Lobster Beach that we were headed to....AJ (rightly) was apprehensive bout doing a 5KM trek from Putty Beach to Maitland Bay on a weekday when we still had 3 weekdays to go afterwards...so we compromised and decided it was Putty Beach we would go to but no trek....(To be honest we didn't have to decide that!! You will know why shortly)

Shobs and Nandu had a house warming to attend, so Vedu and Trisha came along with us- Tu was squealing with excitement...she was just sooo thrilled that they were at the back of our car with her!! :-)) Riya was already waving to us from her car as we set off at 9AM. Needless to say the kids were very excited....rains threatened to play spoilsport as weather apps were checked, but not until 1PM. It was a 90 minute drive through some scenic roads, so largely the kids were busy asking us questions on where we were passing and several notes were made 'for Nandu and Shobs' on where all we can go next!! :D (Places like Kuringai Chase and Pretty Beach)

By around 10:30 we finally reached Putty Beach- ample parking was available, we parked right next to the beach. AJ paid the $8 all day parking fee and joined us even as I took the girls in and got them changed.

One squeal is all it took for tu as she straight headed into the waves- so we needn't have deliberated at all about going on a trek and then getting into the water...Vedu n Trisha joined Tu in no time at all!! The three of them couldn't get enough of the waters!! Venky meanwhile had reached too and in ten mins we saw Riya waving at us!! :D Perfect the day was for the kids to soak in the waters- not too windy and hence the waves were very gentle, the sun was out and bright so the waters were all shades of blue- and they were so clear!! We kept having one of the kids comment on how they could see their own feet all the way to the sand!! We spent the next three hours in water... outside only to dig some rather deep sand pits all under Venky's direction!! At one point Venky was almost neck deep in the pit himself with all the kids bringing water from the beach to fill it up with it...what a riot!! We debated sending some pics to Shobs and Nandu and seeing if they decide to come scampering to the beach to rescue their girls!! ;-)))Some passerby's kept shaking their heads at us... it only gave the kids more of an impetus to furious dig deeper... :D The beach itself was glorious though, couldn't have asked for more!! gentle waves lapping against us as we had a ball of a time in the warm waters!

By around 11:30 the kids were hungry so i whipped up some cheese & avocado sandwiches that were speedily gobbled up. And then by 1:30 we had to drag some very unwilling kids out of the water and have them changed back out so the adults could have our packed lunch at the picnic area.

Venky & Charan had made some yumm bisibelebhath, we had some vermicelli upma,  and curd rice, lots of fruits and snacks...all disappeared in a flash, we were super hungry!! The kids kept themselves busy under Vedu's leadership- climbing some trees nearby! :D After we were done we packed everything back into our cars and decided to head on a short walk to help digest the huge amounts of food we had downed. We couldn't stop admiring the beach as we walked

A short walk to the end of the beach brought us to the wooden stairs. Aj was adeptly shepherding all the kids along even as I stopped to take a panaroma view of the scene in front of me :D

Another 200 mts up and we were treated to some amazing views of the eroded sandstone rocks which had beautiful artistic patterns on them...

The kids were itching to go on the beach track we could clearly see from here.but clouds threatened the horizon.

We were all determined to come back and complete the trek sometime...Venky was fascinated by the geological formations as well...so hopefully we do get back sometime.....

As the clouds darkened, we decided to head back to the car and head home. The kids lead the way and we followed behind.

What an awesome day it had been...clearly one of the best beaches we had visited so far in and around Sydney!! Even as we were thinking these thoughts the kids all silently slipped into a doze....I love how physical exertion around admiration of nature is the best governess - adeptly making children assume their best behaviour and routine! :-) On that note, let me sign off from Putty for now.
